Originally built in 1942, Kamiōsaki, Shinagawa, Tokyo by Kunio Maekawa, with the help of Kosaburo Sakitani, this was the architects home. Maekawa later disassembled the space planning for it to be rebuilt in concrete. Unfortunately, Maekawa passed away before it’s reconstruction and in 1994, the structure was rebuilt as an exhibit at the Edo-Tokyo Open-air Museum, which can be visited today (although from looking online, the area may be under construction).
Maekawa was a Japanese architect who studied under Le Corbusier. He established his own firm at age 30 and began articulating his own architectural language as the years progressed.
